This study used the narrative inquiry method to analyze the stories of the research participants, who were mothers who had divorced as a result of marital conflict about the parents’ roles. The participants had learned and modeled their parental roles from their own parents, but felt their former husbands had not fulfilled their parental role according to their expectations, thereby leading to marital conflict and, ultimately, divorce. In other words, marital satisfaction is lowered when couples cannot cooperate in the role of parents, and family breakdown can occur. Therefore a variety of services should be provided to educate the couple about how to cooperate as a co-caregiver for functional family life, and to support their family.-
