- Abstract
- We conducted an impact analysis of adding a self-reflective writing component to traditional ballet curriculum for non-ballet majors. Participants’baseline perceptions on ballet were compared to subsequent changes throughout the semester. Data was analyzed by triangulation method to ensure reliability and validity. Results showed that writing improved overall class effectiveness by 1. Increasing learning capacity by 1) understanding of movements and concepts 2) retaining content 2. Promoting active participation through 1) enhanced motivation 2) concentration 3. Self-reflection and explorationPractice of self-reflective writing served as an effective tool which had a profound impact on non-ballet major’s experience of learning ballet.
