고려시기 ‘밀성군지역’의 성립과 지리적 범위

Abstract

This paper describes about the establishment and the geographical range of ‘Mirsung-gun Area(密城郡地域)’. This region had been composed of three ‘Gun-Yeonghyeon units(郡領縣單位)’ through the era of King Taejo(太祖) as going through the establishment of Goryeo dynasty. After that in 995 (14th year of King Seongjong(成宗)’s reign) while reorganizing the local government system, it was reclassified as two ‘Ju-hyeon units(州縣單位)’, and in 1018 (9th year of King Hyeonjong(顯宗)’s reign), it was reclassified as one ‘Juhyeon-Sokhyeon unit(主縣屬縣單位)’ called ‘Mirsung-gun Area’ with the establishment of ‘Juhhyeon-Sokhyeon system(主縣屬縣體制)’. ‘Mirsung-gun Area’ consisted of Mirsung-gun(密城郡) for Juh-hyeon(主縣), and six Sokhyeons(屬縣), which were Changnyeong-gun(昌寧郡), Cheongdo-gun(靑道郡), Hyeonpung-hyeon(玄風縣), Gyeseong-hyeon(桂城縣), Yeongsan-hyeon(靈山縣), and Punggak-hyeon(風角縣). ‘Mirsung-gun Area’ during Goryeo dynasty was surrounded with a range of mountains and a river, having Nakdonggang-river(洛東江) as south and west boundary, and Nakdong-jeongmaek(洛東正脈)-range of mountains with Biseul-gimaek(琵瑟支脈) and Yeongchuk-gimaek(靈竺支脈), which are branched off from Nakdong-jeongmaek, as north and east boundary. In Goryeo dynasty, geographical factor played an important role when establishing ‘Juhyeon-Sokhyun unit’ in 9th year of King Hyeonjong’s reign, and so did for ‘Mirsung-gun Area’. Mirsung-gun, which was Juh-hyeon, was located in southeast of ‘Mirsung-gun Area’, and its ruling place was at the center of ‘Mirsung-gun Area’ where Miryanggang-river(密陽江) was running through. The ruling place of Mirsung-gun had a very advantageous location for an effective governing. Also, the stations(驛) built in ‘Mirsung-gun Area’ was used when traveling between Gyungju(慶州), which was Gyaesu- gwan(界首官), and Mirsung-gun, and between Mirsung-gun and Sokhyeons.
