This study aimed to grasp the current state of implementation and support needs of the 2015 re- vised music curriculum in elementary schools. The study included a multi-faceted analysis to examine the common emphasis, understanding, and application of the 2015 revised music curriculum and the demands of support for 301 elementary school teachers with experience in music curriculum across the country. The conclusions drawn by this study are as follows. First, elementary school teachers’ perceptions of understanding the common emphasis in the 2015 revised curriculum, reflecting it in music and curriculum, and practicing and changing lessons were found to be positive. There was a difference between understanding and practice, for the response rate of positive responses to the changes in class was rather low. Second, the elementary school teachers’ perception of the under- standing and application of the 2015 revised music curriculum was found to be positive. Teachers rec- ognized that the changes in and the emphasis of the 2015 revised music curriculum, curriculum com- petency, core concepts, learning volume and content level, and the usefulness of “teaching and learn- ing methods” and “evaluation methods” were valid. Further, there was a need to determine how to ap- ply abstract concepts such as subject matter and core concepts. Third, elementary school teachers rec- ognized the difficulties in the revision of the music curriculum in 2015, the demands for support, and the improvements required for revising the next curriculum. The key was to provide teaching, learn- ing, and evaluation materials and build a classroom environment that includes musical instruments and music rooms. The improvement of the next music curriculum also focused on supplementing the con- tents of textbooks, teaching materials, and teaching aids. In particular, it was necessary to pay atten- tion to the demands to understand the meaning of curriculum competency, adjust to the difficulty of Korean traditional music, understand the diversity of contents, and reflect learners’ interes
