Abstract
This thesis aims to explore the way to practice efficiently ‘Academic Debate at University’ which recently emerged as a target for interest in university of debate education. The main points of this thesis, which has been performed under this intent, are as follows. First, performed for the purpose of debate education, the education of debate at university shall be structured in terms of academic debate which is based on the structure of pros and cons. Because the education of debate at university is aimed to develop the capacity of critical thinking through the process for students to understand proposition. In this context, the education of debate at university ultimately should be converge to the academic debate. Second, broad exchange of opinions to be done must be preceded by the organization of the discussion which is based on the discussion in order to perform effectively the academic debate which is based on the structure of pros and cons. The academic debate and the discussion is misinterpreted as opposing,but in actual training courses these activities combine must be organically, the purpose of the education of debate at university can be achieved effectively. In this context, the education of debate at university should start to make a divergence of the understanding on the proposition with all respect. In short, the basic point of this thesis is that the education of debate at university should be structured in the direction of incorporating organically the phase of discussion for divergent thinking, which is focused on the understanding of the proposition, and the phase of academic debate for convergent thinking,which is focused on cultivating the capacity of critical thinking.
