판소리의 지향과 실창(失唱)의 관련성 고찰

Abstract

판소리는 조선 후기에 형성된 서민예술의 정화이다. 엄격한 신분제 사회에서 드러날 수 없었던 민중적 정서가 각종의 예술로 표출된 시기가 조선후기였고, 이는 서민의 예술적 성취에 대한 양반층의 자각이 있었기에 가능했다. 판소리도 따라서 조선 후기의 서민적 정서가 예술적으로 승화되어완성되었고, 이에 대한 양반층의 이해와 참여가 있었기에 국민예술로의 확대가 이루어졌던 것이다. 각 지역에 산재하던 초기의 판소리 형태는 호남으로 집중되면서 필연적으로 선택과 배제의 과정을 거치게 되었다. 각 지역에 기반을 둔 이야기와음악으로 이루어진 초기의 판소리는 특정 지역의 판소리 형태로 통일되었던 것이다. 이 과정에서 중요한 역할을 한 인물이 바로 가왕으로 불리는송흥록인 것이다. 특정 지역인 호남으로 통일되면서 나타나는 현상은 음악의 단일화와 함께 판소리 사설이 지향하는 세계도 일정한 전형성을 갖게 하였다. 호남지역 음악으로의 집중화가 이루어지면서 장기적으로는 다른 지역의 음악을기반으로 성장한 초기 판소리 형태는 연창의 현장에서 사라지게 되는 결과를 초래하였다. 또한 그 사설도 지역과 시대를 뛰어넘는 서민정신과 평등을 추구하는 작품들이 판소리의 대종을 형성하게 된 것이다. 이처럼 초기의 판소리 연행에서 활발한 전승을 보였던 작품은 음악과 사설의 변화라는충격 속에서 유파로서의 큰 흐름을 상실하고 호남으로의 집중화가 이루어진 판소리 형태에 자신의 흔적을 남기는 것으로 만족해야 했다. 판소리의 집중화와 단일화는 판소리의 정밀화, 예술화라는 긍정적 평가와 함께 다양한 지역성과 세태를 배제함으로써 풍부한 민속예술의 도태되는 결과를 초래하였다. 집중화와 분산화는 모든 존재가 자신의 성장을 위해 나타나는 필연적인 변화의 모습이라고 할 수 있다. 판소리는 그런 이유에서 판소리사에서 배제되었던 각 지역의 소중한 음악적 자산과 이 시대가요구하는 지향을 아우르기를 요구받고 있다

Pansori is the essence of popular art which was developed in the late Chosun dynasty. Unlike in the past when people had to hide their own emotions under the pressure of strict status system, people started expressing their own emotions in the late Chosun dynasty. This resulted from the realization of rulling class about the artistic accomplishment of ordinary people. As the public sentiment made into art, pansori became completed and the understanding and involvement of rulling class helped it to become more popular as a national art. The early form of pansori was scattered all over the regions and later it was concentrated in Honam area. Inevitably, it went through the process of choice and elimination. In other words, the early Pansori, which consists stories and music based on their own regions, unified as the special region formation of pansori. Song, Heungrok played a huge role in this whole process. As it was unified in special region, Honam, it brought about the simplification of music and certain regularity of the world which pansori is aiming for. In the long term, the concentration of music into Honam area caused disappearance of the early form of pansori -which was based on musics of other regionsin pansori performance. Also, majority of pansori were about the pursuit of people mind and equality beyond regions and time. Like this, many pansori pieces once very popular in the early pansori history disappeared in a shock of the change of music and story and it only remained in the formation of pansori which was concentrated into Honam area. Although concentration and unification of Pansori led to the positive appraisal about the refinement and artistry of pansori, it also caused falling behind of abundant folk art since it eliminated regionalism and social conditions. Unification and decentralization is inevitable process for the development of any kinds. For these reasons, pansori is required to encompass precious musical assets from each regions ,which was eliminated in the history of pansori,and the aim of today.
