영재를 위한 인문사회영재교육 프로그램의 방향

Abstract

그동안 우리의 영재교육은 수ˑ과학영재교육에 치중해왔고 인문사회적 소양을 기르는 인문사회 영재교육에는 거의 관심을 기울이지 않았다. 그러나 삶의 본질에 대한 통찰력을 기르는 인문사회적 소양은 모든 영재교육의 기본이고 모든 분야의 국제적 경쟁력을 높이기 위한 필요조건이라 여겨진다. 이에 본 연구는 영재를 위한 인문사회영재교육의 철학과 목표가 되는 핵심능력을 연구하고 이를 토대로 인문사회 영재교육의 기본 방향을 제시하려고 한다. 이를 위하여 선행연구들을 고찰하였으며, 그 결과, 인문사회영재교육의 기본 철학을 지적인 통찰(프로네시스 : phronesis)로 정하고, 융합, 창의, 리더십을 핵심목표능력으로 선정할 것을 제안하였다. 그리고 문학작품과 역사, 철학, 경제, 지리, 윤리, 사회 등 인간과 인간세계에서 일어나는 문제들을 기반으로 주제를 선정하고, 각 주제를 전개하는 과정에서 영재의 기본 능력인 창의적 사고력, 비판적 사고력, 통합적 사고력, 논리적 사고력 등을 강화하고, 협동심과 능동적 자기주도성을 배양하며, 차별화된 교육과정의 도입으로 각 개인에 맞는 영재교육을 실시할 것을 제안하였다.

Gifted education in Korea has been excessively focusing on mathematics and science while neglecting the humanities. Nurturing a child’s humanistic insight is essential for developing the potential of gifted children and increasing international competitiveness. This study aims to examine the philosophical basis and purpose of humanities education for gifted learners and suggests its future direction. The philosophical basis of this study is drawn from precedent research that suggests phronesis, mentioned by Socrates as the supremacy virtue. The consilience, creativity and leadership skills are targeted as the core abilities. We propose that unit subjects such as literature, history, and philosophy cover important social issues and topics. Educators in Korea can integrate the humanities into differentiated curriculum for individual learning needs. The integration of the humanities in gifted education is suggested in order to reinforce creative, critical, and logical thinking skills and to improve on the cooperative and self directed learning abilities of gifted students.
