- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of parenting attitudes on teamwork competencies and the dual mediation effect of children’s self-esteem and social withdrawal. To this end, a structural equation model analysis was conducted on 2,607 fourth-graders in elementary schools that participated in the 1st wave of the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey 2018 (KCYPS 2018). Parenting attitudes were not found to affect teamwork competencies in children directly, but the dual mediating effect of self-esteem and social withdrawal was significant. In other words, in order to develop the teamwork competencies, it is necessary to consider parenting attitudes, children’s self-esteem, and social withdrawal. Based on these results, policy and practice implications were discussed.
