Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship achievement goal orientation and intrinsic motivation in ball gall athletes. A total of 168 active athletes were surveyed including 80 hockey athletes and 88 handball athletes. The average age of the men are 21.74(SD=4.36) and 19.54(SD=3.02) for the women. The study used adapted versions of the Task and Ego orientation in Sport Questionnaire(Duda & Nichills, 1989) and the Intrinsic Motivation Inventory(Ryan, 1980). Multivariate analysis of variance and two-way ANOVA were used for statistical analyses. The conclusions from the findings are; (1) there is a positive relationship achievement goal orientation and intrinsic motivation. (2) task orientation was significantly different main effects according to sport type, gender, and school career. also, there are different no interaction effects. (3) ego orientation was significantly different main effects according to sport type and school career, but gender was no different. also, ego orientation was different no interaction effects. (4) task orientation according to sport type, gender, and school career was significantly different interrest, perceived competence, and effort. (5) ego orientation according to sport type was significantly different interrest. According to gender and school career was significantly different interrest, perceived competence, and effort. The paper concludes with future derections for work on goal perspectives and intrinsic motivation in sport.
