마이너리티연구에 있어서의 당사자성 문제 - 한센병문학 연구를 중심으로

Abstract

본 논문은 마이너리티연구에 있어서의 당사자성 문제에 대해 고찰하였다. 마이너리티 당사자가 아니면 마이너리티연구는 수행할 수 없는지, 비당사자가 마이너리티연구를 수행하기 위한 조건은 무엇인지에 대해 살펴보았다. 특히 한센병문학의 당사자성에 주목하였다. 비당사자의 마이너리티연구는 마이너리티 당사자의 소외 및 차별 경험을 공유할 수없다는 점에서 의문시되곤 했다. 하지만 비당사자의 마이너리티연구를 의문시하는 시선의 이면에는 마이너리티에 대한 혐오･소외의 멘탈리티가 잠재돼 있다. 당사자성 내부에도 차이와 균열은 존재하며, 당사자와 비당사자의 관계성의 차이가 마이너리티연구의 지평을 확장할 수도 있다. 비당사자가 마이너리티문제에 개입하기 위해서는 당사자와 친밀권이 형성되어야 한다. 비당사자의 공감과 당사자의 수용이 그 전제 조건이다. 다만 비당사자의 당사자에 대한 적극적인 공감 노력은 중요하지만, 안이한 공감의 시도가 당사자의 상처를 가중시키는 폭력성을 띨 우려 또한 간과할 수 없다. 그렇기에 양자 사이에 절대 메워질 수 없는 틈새, 즉 공약불가능성을 인정하면서 비당사자의 상처를 나누고자 하는 윤리적 실천이야말로 실로 중요하다. 경계 넘기는 당사자와 비당사자 모두에게 난제이지만 마이너리티 문제의 가시화를 위해선 포기할 수 없는 과제이다.

This paper examines the issue on the involved party’ stance on minority research. This paper examined whether it is not possible to conduct a minority study unless it is a minority party, and what are the conditions for a non-party to conduct a minority study. Particular attention was paid to the involved party’ stance on leprosy literature. Minority studies of non-parties have been questioned in that they cannot share experiences of alienation and discrimination of minority parties. However, there is a potential for hate and alienation of minority behind the eyes that question the non-party s research on minority. Differences and cracks exist within the involved party’ stance, and differences in the relationship between the parties and the non-parties may expand the horizon of minority research. In order for non-parties to intervene in minority matters, intimatesphere with the parties must be established. The precondition is empathy from non-parties and acceptance of the parties. However, while active empathy for non-parties is important, it is important not to overlook the concern that easy attempts to empathize may cause violence. Therefore, the ethical practice of sharing the wounds of non-parties while acknowledging a gap that cannot be filled between the two is truly important. Boundary crossing is a challenge for both parties and non-parties, but it is a task that cannot be abandoned for the visualization of minority issues.
