- Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to investigate the differences in family strength and the awareness of support among the elderly and children according to their perceived family strength, level of awareness of support and socio-demographic characteristics, and the effect of perceived family strength on perceived awareness of support. 196 children and 162 elderly adults were analyzed.
The results of the study are as follows. First, family strength and upbringing consciousness of the elderly and children were high. In both sub-domains, problem solving ability was the highest in both generations. Family bonding, family communication, and sharing were the second highest in both generations. Second, as a result of verifying the difference in the awareness of support between the elderly and children, the elderly showed higher family strength. Third, as a result of verifying the differences in the awareness of support for the elderly and children, the awareness of support for children is higher. Finally, regression analysis was conducted to examine the effects of two generations of family strength on the awareness of support. As a result, family strength was found to influence the awareness of support for both the elderly and children.
