- Abstract
- This study was designed to determine the relationship between lean body mass and appetite-regulating hormone levels among Korean female ballet dancers. 86 Korean female ballet dancers participated in this study. The lean body mass of the subjects was measured using the bioimpedance method. Blood samplings were assayed using ECLIA and RIA mehtods, Enzymatic method was used for leptin, ghrelin, insulin and glucose level measurements. Statistical analyses included linear regression and Durbin Watson Test. The results showed that the independent variables, ghrelin, leptin, insulin and glucose, showed that it did not significantly affect the dependant variable lean body mass. These data indicate that there were no significant relationship between lean body mass and appetite-regulating hormones in female ballet dancers. Further studies on positive and negative effects of exercise intensity are required including variable study subjects.
