- Abstract
- In this research, we used statistical methods and triangulation used to analyze the effect of dance-related writing exercise on performers' dance creativity. Professional dance majors of S university were divided into experimental group (n=11) and control group (n=8). Participants underwent weekly ballet program for 15 weeks and were evaluated both pre and post program using the dance creativity test. Statistical evaluation was done using Wilcoxon signed-rank test with significance level of α=.05.
The result showed that the creativity test-factors such dance intellectuality, esthetic sensibility, and dance working composition ability increased in both groups, yet the magnitude of creativity improvement was larger in the experimental group. Furthermore, triangulation method was applied to obtain data from the experimental group. Conclusions are shown below.
First, dance related writing exercise provides time for reflection and contemplation, thus, resulting in the expansion of self-exploration process and overall creative dance working composition. Second, it also serves as a bridge to support the repeated modification process in creative endeavor with heightened spontaneity. Therefore, dance-related writing exercise should be revisited as means to develop performers’ dance creativity.
