Abstract
The purpose of this study is to provide the fundamental data for the prevention of metabolic syndrome and the development of treatment exercise protocol in a scientific manner by analyzing an effect of the 12- week aerobics exercise program for postmenopausal women (exercise group: 9, comparison group: 9) who suffer from metabolic syndrome on arterial stiffness, vascular inflammatory parameters and blood concentration of metabolic hormone. With respect to the data process, the repeated measure two-way ANOVA was conducted for comparing the differences according to the measurement times by group and paired t-test was performed for verifying the difference between pre and post data for each group. Independent t-test was conducted for analyzing the difference between the groups for each measurement time. After 12 - week aerobic exercise, a significant difference in gluteus circumference (p < .05) and the calf circumference(p < .01) has been identified for the exercise group. In addition, as for the metabolic syndrome risk factors, a significant difference in HDL-C, IGF-I has also been detected for the exercise group. It turned out that the aerobic exercise primarily has a positive effect on the body composition and the risk factors for the women who suffer from the metabolic syndrome, but it necessitates more study to be carried out in a diversified manner based on more samples, systematic analysis over time and the application of various types of exercises.
