- Abstract
- The objective of this study is to examine the aerobic exercise and sport massage effects on PMS level, hormone concentration.Twelve high school students who have low to medium level PMS were selected for this study and they were divided into two groups. One is aerobic exercise group and 6 students performed low to medium intensity exercise(three times a week). The other group got sports massage treatment(once a week). They answered PMS questionnaire, blood sampling were performed, and the maximal exercise capacities of subjects were examined through treadmill test(Bruce protocol) until they were all out. SPSS 10.0 was used for the data analysis and repeated measure ANOVA method was selected for the significance level test. Bonferroni test was used for the post hoc of the analysis. The results of this study are as follows.1. For the aerobic exercise group PMS level was significantly reduced for the total PMS(p<.05), pain(p<.01), behavioral change(p<.01), and water retention(p<.05). For the sports massage group the PMS level was significantly decreased for the total PMS(p<.01), negative effect(p<.05), and autonomic reaction(p<.05).2. For the aerobic exercise group hormone concentration was significantly changed for progesterone and epinephrine(p<.05). For the sports massage group cortisol concentration was significantly changed(p<.01).This study suggests the aerobic exercise(low to medium intensity) and sports massage are obviously helpful for the alleviation of PMS and positive effects on hormones however the mineral concentration was not changed much. A systematic study for the food controlled group on PMS changes due to various exercise forms, intensity, frequency, and period can be the future studies in this field.
