Abstract
Recently, various eBook applications are provided as reading activities through mobile devices and audio books are becoming popular. The existing eBook viewer applications have limitations when listening to books about economy, natural science and engineering. In this research, we developed a mobile android system which enables the user to repeatedly listen to specific passages, and applies mathematical formula reading techniques using document structuralizing elements in HTML5. In particular, this system can be discriminated from other systems in the way that it was designed to enable not only screen display but also vocal output, considering situations in which the user can be with environmental or physical limits. Also, this system can be a solution to the existing audiobook’s expensive producing budget and excessive memory problem by choosing the voice book method, which converts text data into voice using the android Text-To-Speech(TTS) engine instead of playing recorded audio files. © Research India Publications.
