- Abstract
- This study is to research about Hanwhak who was a diplomat as well as politician of early chosun dynasty. Hanwhak is a posterity of Hanak who was a person of good lineage that is Chengju Han's family and grown up in late Korea dynasty. Hanbangsin is a great-grand father of a Hanwhak, and he rendered meritorious in order to he repulsed an attack by Honggunjuk(紅巾賊) and Yejinjok(女眞族) as a military vassal in late Korea dynasty.
However, his son, Hanan was involved to kill Kongmin king, finally, he put to death. As a result, his family was withered as well as his grand father, Hanyoung and father, Hanyoungjeng could not succeed in life. But, sisters of Hanwhak were become as a royal concubine of the Ming dynasty, therefore Hanwhak had a higher position job.
His elder sister was selected as a Gongnea(貢女) at Taejong 17 years, and she became a royal concubine of Sungjong of Ming dynasty. So, Hanwhak had a better position job of Koangrogsi(光祿寺)'s sokyung. After that, his younger sister was selected as a Gongnea also, and she became a royal concubine of Sunjong of Ming dynasty. Because of that indebtedness, Hanwhak had a better job and he could go and back between Ming dynasty and chosun dynasty for political foreign work.
Hanwhak had three sons and six daughters and he got them married to the royal family and distinguished family. The elder son, Hanchiin was got married to grand daughter of Joban who was a meritorious retainer at the founding of a Chosun dynasty. His third son became a son-in-law of Joungei-princess who was daughter of King Seijong In order to other daughter was got married to a son by a concubine of King Seijong, King Seijong and Hanwhak were got related by marriage. And the youngest daughter was got married to a son of King Seijo. Therefore Hanwhak was got related by doble marriage to King Seijong and King Seijo, and he improved position of his job and family. He was a excellent diplomat and a administrator
