- Abstract
- This study was conducted to identify the needs for retirement support programs of police officers in Korea, and to examine their life planning and preparation after retirement. In results, first, more than half of the respondents replied that they did not have specific retirement plans, and even if they had plans, the plans were not specific. Second, police officers ahead of retirement were highly interested in re-employment or starting a new business for preparation for old age, sustenance, and community participation. Third, police officers were less satisfied with the current retirement support program, and were in high need of information on re-employment and business. Based on the questionnaire results, it was estimated that developing a systematic educational training program, providing police officers with sufficient information on post-retirement lives, and stepwise programs to support the post-retirement lives of police officers are needed. © 2017 International Information Institute.
