- Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to examine mediating effects of negative automatic thoughts in therelations between dysfunctional attitude, early maladaptive schema and depression of adolescents. Results of theresearch model using Structural Equation Modeling Analysis show that there is no difference between data andthe model as χ² value is not significant. The key research findings are as follows. First, dysfunctional attitude hasno direct effects on depression but has indirect effects on depression through negative automatic thoughts. Thisfinding suggests that the intervention of negative automatic thoughts should be focused in case of depressionderived from dysfunctional attitude. Second, early maladaptive schema shows direct effects on depression as wellas indirect effects on depression through negative automatic thoughts. This finding suggests that not only earlymaladaptive schema but negative automatic thoughts in counseling should be focused for the clients withdepression. It also presents implications and future research subjects in respect of counseling adolescents withdepression.
