- Abstract
- This thesis is written to study the critic, Kimnamchon's essay. As a result of the study, the followings are found; 1) Big crack and difference exist between Kimnamchon‘s essay and his political criticism. 2) Various and delicate opinions, which can not be found in his political criticism, are expressed in his essay. This is related to the characteristic of the genre as essay. 3) Rich understanding about autonomy of art is revealed in Kimnamchon's essay. In addition, his interest which is wide-opened to manners and culture at large is expressed in his essays. Especially, Kimnamchon's examination on commercialism and the relation of press and the field of literature is extraordinarily sharp. 4) His deep love for the family, longing for home, sentimentalism, and nihilism are abundantly found in Kimnamchon's essays.
