- Abstract
- Although the effect of parent's share of educational expenditure in elementary and middle school is not large, there is a statistically significant effect for secondary school. In the case of secondary school, parent's share of educational expenditure has a positive influence regarding certain aspects such as school lunches and extra-curricular activities, but has a negative influence in other areas such as dormitory costs. The following policy suggestions and implications were draw from analysis results. First, in the event of increasing the government's education budget for secondary education, priority needs to be placed on expanding the parent's share of educational expenditure that has a significant positive influence on educational outcomes. Second, there needs to be consideration of the policy strategies to implement, whether to prioritize the items that increase above average academic achievement and increase the budget in relevant areas, or to focus on the items that improve basic academic ability. © 2015 International Information Institute.
