만 4-5세 버들피리반 유아들의 참여권 존중에 관한 실행과 그 의미

Abstract

본 연구는 유아의 참여권을 존중하기 위한 교사와 유아 간의 협력적 실행과정을 소개하고 그 의미를 도출하여, 향후 유아의 참여권이 존중되는 교육을 실현할 수 있는 토대를 제공하기 위해 수행되었다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 2019년 4월부터 2020년 2월까지 만 4-5세 버들피리반 유아 18명과 3명의 교사를 대상으로 계획-실행-관찰-성찰-재계획의 나선형 순환 과정을 3차례 반복하는 실행연구를 수행하였다. 버들피리반 참여권 존중의 실행과정은 다음과 같다. 1차 실행에서는 유아들의 참여권을 존중하는 '우리들의 시간' 구성, 정리 안 하기를 통한 놀이시간 확대, 자율배식등을 통해 일과 속에서 참여권을 존중해보았고, 2차 실행에서는 투표를 통한 유아의 놀이 공간 결정 및 소수의 견해 존중을 실행해보았으며, 3차 실행에서는 유아들의 의사결정에 따라 그간 허용되지 않았던 전쟁놀이를 실시하되 안전한 무기 놀잇감을 고안하고 스스로 놀이 규칙을 정해보았다. 버들피리반 참여권 존중 실행과정의 의미는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유아들은 자신의 의사가 존중되는 새로운 경험을 긍정적으로 받아들였으며, 이후 자신의 의견을 보다 자유롭게 표현하게 되었고, 타인의 의사와 기호를 존중하게 되며 권리의 주체자로서 존재를 확립하였다. 둘째, 참여권 존중 실행과정에서 유아의 참여권과 의사존중에 대한 교사와 기관장의 인식이 긍정적으로 변화하였다. 셋째, 다만 이를 실천하는 과정에서는 교사의 딜레마가 나타나기도 하였다. 본 연구가 시사하는 바는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 참여권 존중은 유아에게 주체적이며 민주적인 경험을 제공하는 것으로 교육현장에서 유아의 참여권이 존중되어야 한다. 둘째, 유아의 참여권이 존중되는 교육을 위해서는 교사의 역할과 지원이 중요하므로 이에 대한 교사의 인식이 선행되어야 한다. 셋째, 교육 현장에서 교사가 교육과정을 자율적으로 운영할 수 있는 제도적 뒷받침이 필요하다. 넷째, 참여권에 대한 부모들의 이해 또한 함께 이루어져야 한다.

The purpose of this study is to derive the process and meaning of the collaborative action research on children’s participation rights and to provide the foundation of education for respecting children's participation rights. This study was conducted by using action research approach and was experimented on 18 children at the age of four to five-years-old with three teachers and a researcher. The action research was consisted of spiral cycle structure of planning-implementation-observation-reflection thinking-re planning and was done from April in 2019 to February in 2020. As for the result, it showed the three process of respecting the children’s participation rights and the meaning of respecting the children’s participation rights. The meaning of respecting the children’s participation rights is to establish the existence value of children as a subject of rights. we will be able to know the optimistic meaning of respecting children’s view and children can express their opinions freely and ask questions and respecting others' right to participate to establish the existence value of children as a subject of rights. the other meaning is the change of teacher’s perception on respecting the children’s participation rights. And finally we will be able to know the meaning of teacher’s dilemma in respecting children’s participation rights in the classroom.
