논술(論述)의 뜻과 성격

Abstract

이 글은 “논술(論述)”이라는 우리말의 뜻을 밝히기 위해 쓰였다. 국어사전을 찾으면 “논술”은 대개 “어떤 것에 관하여 의견을 논리적으로 서술함, 또는 그런 서술”, 또는 “의견을 논하여 말함, 또는 그 서술” 등과 같이 풀이되어 있다. 이에 반해 “논술”에 대한 기존의 정의들은 “논리적 글쓰기”라는 뜻풀이에 기초하여 논술고사 내지 대학교과목에 적합하도록 특수하게 제안되었다. 아울러 이러한 논술의 근본성격으로서 비판적이고 창의적인 사고력, 논증성(사유 과정), 통합성(영역 전이성), 자기주도성, 의사소통성 등의 규정이 제시되었다. 이 글에서 나는 그러한 제안과 제시를 하나하나 비판적으로 검토하였다.나는 논술에 대한 정의를 유보한 채 “논술”에 대한 뜻풀이로서 “논리적 진술”을 제안한다. “논리적”이라는 말은 “논증”의 뜻만을 갖지 않고, 그보다 더 넓은 뜻을 갖는다. 여기서 나는 “논리적”이라는 말을 하병학이 제안한 “주장과 근거 사이의 적합성과 일관성”의 의미로 받아들이지만, 그 표현을 “이치에 맞음” 내지 “말이 됨”으로 바꾸었다. 그로써 “논리적”이라는 말의 뜻을 보다 자유롭게 했다. 즉 “논술”이란 이제 “어떤 것에 대해 그것이 관련된 사물의 이치, 삶의 이치, 논하는 이치 등의 갖가지 이치에 따라 진술하거나, 또는 그 진술”이라고 풀이된다.논술은 진술의 성격 － 즉 제시되어야 하는 것(문제가 되는 대상), 서술, 전달(소통성), 자기 자신을 드러냄 － 을 가질 뿐 아니라, “논리”의 성격 － 명확성, 논증성, 이치성 － 등도 띠어야 한다. 이로써 우리는 논술이 속한 포괄적 영역을 어느 정도 밝힌 셈이다.

I will in this paper reveal the meaning of “Writing(논술)” in korean language. From the Korean language dictionary, “writing” means “what kind of thing that describes an opinion logically, or like that description.” But man generally regards writing as “logical writings” in intention to guide writing examination preparation and to offer an interdisciplinary oriented curriculum. As basic character of writing was proposed critical and creative faculty of thinking, argumentation(thinking process), integrity(characteristics of region transition), the regulation of own leading study, communication. I criticize the characters one by one. I propose “writing” in “logical statement.” “logical” does not have only the meanings of argument, but also means wider "conformance(compatibility) and consistency between asserting and ground”, but the expression was changed to “correspond to reason” and “right use of language.” So I will be able to explain “Writing” as the statement, which someone about problems on the basis of the principles, which are applied in the various field(nature, human being and logical processing), state or set forth his view
