- Abstract
- Bidirectional barrel shifters are used in a variety of algorithms because they can rotate a bit as many times as desired within a single cycle. However, as the number of input bits increases, the number of stages required increases and, accordingly, the hardware cost increases exponentially. In this paper, we propose a dynamic logic-based barrel shifter with customized domino logic for efficient hardware design. The proposed bidirectional barrel shifter has been implemented with 28nm CMOS technology, and in 32-bit configuration, power, performance, and area are improved by 36%, 19%, and 37%, respectively, compared to the conventional domino logic based approach. © 2022 IEEE.
