대학생의 협동-경쟁적 태도 잠재프로파일과 의사소통역량, 수업 참여 및 학업성취도 간의 관계

Abstract

본 연구에서는 사회적 상호의존성 이론에 근거하여 대학생의 협동적 태도와 경쟁적 태도의 프로파일을 도출하고, 이 프로파일이 의사소통역량, 수업 참여, 학업성취와 어떠한 관계를 보이는지를 분석하였다. 의사소통역량은 자기보고식 측정과 행동지표 측정방식을 모두 활용하여 측정 타당성을 높였다. 이를 위해 수도권 및 비수도권의 4개 대학에 재학 중인 대학생의 설문 데이터(n=271)와 소그룹 활동 녹화 영상(n=154)을 수집하였다. 잠재프로파일분석을 실시한 결과 ‘저협동·중경쟁’(11%), ‘중협동·중경쟁’(45%), ‘고협동·중경쟁’(44%)이라는 세 집단이 추출되었다. 의사소통역량과 수업 참여에 대해서는 주로 협동적 태도가 높은 프로파일(예: ‘고협동·중경쟁’)의 의사소통역량과 수업 참여의 수준이 높았다. 반면, 학업성취에 대해서는 협동적 태도가 낮은 프로파일(‘저협동·중경쟁’)의 학업성취 수준이 높았다. 이러한 결과는 학습자의 요구나 준비도에 따라 즉, 어떠한 학업 관련 영역을 더 증진시키고자 하느냐에 따라 협동적 태도 또는 경쟁적 태도를 전략적으로 지원해야 함을 의미한다.

The purpose of this study was to identify the profiles of university students’ cooperative and competitive attitudes based on social interdependence theory, and to confirm the relation of communication competency to engagement and academic achievement. The measurement validity for communication competency was established using both self-reported and behavior indicators. We collected survey data (n=271) and video data on small-group activities (n=154) of college students in four universities across metropolitan and non-metropolitan areas. Three latent profiles were identified through latent profile analysis: ‘Low Cooperative and Mid-Competitive (11%)’, ‘Mid-Cooperative and Mid-Competitive (45%)’, ‘High Cooperative and Mid-Competitive (44%).’ In general, the levels of communication competency and engagement were higher in profiles with a high cooperative attitude (e.g., ‘High Cooperative and Mid-Competitive’) than other profiles. Contrarily, the level of academic achievement was higher in the profile with a low cooperative attitude (‘Low Cooperative and Mid-Competitive’) than the others. The results suggest that social interdependence attitudes should be strategically supported depending on learners’ needs or readiness.
