- Abstract
- In this study, multinomial logistic regression analysis was conducted using data from the 2019 National Health and Nutrition Survey to investigate the relationship between mineral and vitamin intake and nutritional indicators of the elderly aged 65 or older. As a result, multinomial logistic regression analysis to examine the intake status of vitamins (vitamin A, beta-carotene, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, folic acid, and vitamin C) according to nutritional labeling showed statistically significant effects (p<0.05).
On the other hand, there was no significant difference in vitamin intake according to the use and influence of nutritional labeling. And multinomial logistic regression analysis to examine the intake status of minerals (calcium, phosphorus, iron, sodium, and potassium) according to whether nutritional labeling is recognized, it was found to have a statistically significant effect along with the high explanatory power of the regression model (p<0.05). On the other hand, there was no significant difference in mineral intake according to whether nutrition labeling was used and influenced. From the above results, it is judged that education on nutrition labeling for the elderly should be conducted. However, despite the experience of nutrition labeling cognitive education for the elderly, detailed nutrition education related to nutrition labeling is expected to be of great help in improving the diet of the elderly, and continuous application research is needed in the future. Therefore, this study is considered valuable in that this study confirmed the significance and correlation with nutritional labeling perception based on the inorganic and vitamin intake of the elderly.
