북한 과학환상동화 ‘동굴섬의 새전설’에 나타난 북한의 정치사회화 맥락과 아동관

Abstract

이 연구는 북한사회의 정권 변화 이후 발표된 아동 대상 문학을 살펴보아 최근 정치사회화 맥락과 아동관을 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 북한에서는 최첨단 시대 담론이 대두되며 과학환상동화를 통한 교양이 강조되고 있으므로, 김정은 시대 이후 발표된 과학환상동화 분석을 통해 의미있는 시사점을 도출하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 북한 어린이를 대상으로 발행되는 조선작가동맹 중앙위원회 기관지인 『아동문학』에 수록된 과학환상동화 ‘동굴섬의 새전설’을 분석대상으로 선정하였다. '동굴섬의 새전설＇에서는 과학기술이 식량난과 같은 국가가 당면한 현실적인 문제 해결에 도움을 주어야 한다는 과학환상동화 고유의 목적성을 가지고 있으며, 북한의 체제 유지에 적합한 인물을 키워내기 위한 사상교육의 측면이 드러났다. 특히, 새로운 정권의 정통성을 상징하는 묘사를 통해 젊은이, 작은 것의 힘을 강조하여 변화된 사회상을 반영하여 새로운 가치를 창출하고자 함을 알 수 있었다. 그러나 소설 속에서 묘사된 이상향과 현실 간 차이는 유토피아를 단순히 제시하는 데 그치며, 아동발달 특성을 적절하게 반영하지 못하는 한계를 보이며 북한이 표방하는 이상과 차이를 나타낸다. 이상의 결과는 북한에 대한 자료접근이 제한적인 현 시점에서 북한의 아동대상 정치사회화 내용을 살펴 통일을 준비하는 의미있는 기초자료가 될 것이다.

The purpose of this study was to see how the context of political socialization and the view of children are depicted in North Korean Science Fiction, which has become an upward trend as a media for liberal education reflecting the change in their ideology. For this purpose, ‘The New Legend of the Cave-Island’ (2014) was analyzed to reveal the disparity between North Korea’s reality and their orientation towards utopia, in the new era of Kim Jong Un. ‘The New Legend of the Cave-Island’ faithfully serves the basic goals of North Korean Science Fiction which is to solve problems connected with their actual life such as food shortage issues through scientific technology. It also shows the aspect of ideology education in order to raise figures fit for their communist system. Furthermore, by emphasizing the legitimacy of the new regime, they try to achieve political socialization of North Korean children. Through the process of stressing on the young and the power within small things, they try reflecting aspects of their social changes. Considering the fact that there is a lack of research materials and references as well as limited access, the result of this study, which looks into the context of political socialization of North Korean children, will provide a meaningful basis in preparation for the upcoming period of unification.
