초등학생의 내외통제소재가 학교적응에 미치는 영향: 스트레스 대처방식의 매개효과

Abstract

본 연구에서는 초등학생의 내외통제소재가 학교적응에 미치는 영향에서 스트레스 대처방식의 매개효과를 규명하였다. 이를 위해 서울 및 경기도에 위치한 초등학교 5, 6학년 368명을 대상으로 내외통제소재 척도, 스트레스 대처방식 척도, 학교적응 척도를 사용하였다. 수집된 자료로 상관분석, 중다회귀분석, Baron과 Kenny(1986)의 매개효과 검증절차, Sobel test를 실시하였다. 본 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등학생의 내외통제소재는 학교적응과 유의한 상관관계를 보였다. 내적 통제소재는 스트레스 대처방식의 하위요인인 적극적, 사회지지 추구적 대처방식과는 정적 상관관계를, 공격적 대처방식과는 부적 상관관계를 보였다. 외적 통제소재는 스트레스 대처방식의 하위요인인 공격적, 소극/회피적 대처방식과는 정적 상관관계를, 적극적, 사회지지 추구적 대처방식과는 부적 상관관계를 보였다. 마지막으로, 스트레스 대처방식 중 적극적, 사회지지 추구적 대처방식은 학교적응과 정적 상관관계를, 공격적 대처방식은 부적 상관관계를 보였다. 둘째, 내외통제소재는 스트레스 대처방식의 하위요인인 적극적, 공격적, 사회지지 추구적 대처방식을 부분매개하여 학교적응에 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 이로써 본 연구는 아동 상담, 부모 교육, 학교적응을 위한 프로그램 개발에 관한 기초 자료를 제공했다는 점에서 의의가 있다고 본다.

This study examined the mediating effects of stress coping styles on the relationship between internal and external locus of control and the school adjustment of elementary school students. To achieve these research goals, 368 elementary school students in Seoul and Gyeonggi - do were used to investigate the internal and external locus of control scale, the stress coping scale, and the school adjustment scale. The collected data were used for correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, the Baron and Kenny's (1986) mediating effect verification procedure, and the Sobel test. The results are as follows. First, the internal and external locus of control showed a clear correlation with school adjustment. The internal locus of control showed a positive correlation with the active coping style, the social support seeking coping style and showed a negative correlation with the aggressive coping style. The external locus of control showed a positive correlation with aggressive, as well as passive/avoidant coping styles, and negatively correlated with the active, the social support seeking coping styles. Finally, the active and social support seeking coping styles showed positive correlations with school adaptation, and the aggressive coping style showed a negative correlation. Second, the internal and external locus of control had a significant influence on school adjustment through the partial mediation of active, aggressive, and social support-seeking coping styles. Based on these results, this study is important in that it provides basic data on child counseling, parent education, and program development for those interested in the field of school adjustment.
