- Abstract
- Korean universities tend to heavily rely on students’ tuition fees. However, government policy that freezes hikes on tuition forces universities to make efforts to secure funding. One way to secure funding is by obtaining government financial support projects. Therefore, it is inevitable that universities pay attention to the evaluation index of government financial support projects. However, there is a growing perception that the quantitative indicators used for evaluation are either favorable or unfavorable depending on the characteristics of the university. The purpose of this study was to explore whether the characteristics of universities lead to any advantages or disadvantages through an analysis of actual quantitative evaluation indexes. According to the results of the analysis, there is a difference between the mean value and the component ratio of key quantitative indexes of the upper, middle, and lower groups depending on the size and location of the university. Therefore, the evaluation results can differ depending on which weight is placed on the indexes as the dominant indexes differ depending on the region and size. © Rushing Water Publishers Ltd. 2018.
