- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to examine the types of work values and find out the effects of hotel employees' work value on job satisfaction and turnover intention. The data of 233 hotel employees working in ten 5-star hotels in Seoul were gathered and analysed. The results of this research is presented as follows: First of all, through the factor analysis of work value, four factors were identified. 'Self-development' was defined as intrinsic variables whereas 'the way of life', 'recognition', and 'economic stability' were defined as extrinsic variables. Work value had a positive effect on job satisfaction. External variables had more impact on job satisfaction than internal ones. Secondly, external variables had negatively effect on turnover intention. However, intrinsic variables was not related to turnover intention. Thirdly, job satisfaction of hotel employees was negatively related to turnover intention. Therefore, the company should try to keep on eye on hotel employees' work value and give proper compensation.
