- Abstract
- The objective of this study is to understand how university specialization is implemented for universities with different features (foundation status, location, and size) in Korea. It especially focuses on the interaction effect between the features of universities that affect the implementation of specialization projects in the field of engineering. The findings of the study are as follows: First, the features of universities are correlated with the indicators of implementation of specialization projects. For example, the larger the size of a university, the larger the number of its specialization project groups, government's financial support for its specialization projects, and number of its specialization project groups that are financially supported by the government. Second, in the engineering field, the size of universities has an interaction effect on their foundation status and location Key Words: university features, higher education, university specialization, university education outcome, university competitiveness. © 2017 International Information Institute.
