세계시민교육이 자기성찰과 세계시민성에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 대학 교양교육에서 실시하는 세계시민교육 프로그램이 대학생의 자기성찰과 세계시민성에 미치는 효과를 분석하는 것이다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위해, 서울 소재 S대학에 교양필수 교과를 수강하는 145명의 학생들을 대상으로 세계시민교육 프로그램을 한 학기 동안 실시하고 사전-사후 검사를 수행하였다. 수집된 자료는 기술 통계, 빈도 분석, 상관 분석, t-검증, 회귀 분석을 실시하였다. 분석에 사용한 통계 프로그램은 SPSS 25.0 프로그램이다. 주요 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자기성찰과 세계시민성 모두 사전-사후 분석에서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 자기성찰과 세계시민성은 정적 상관이 있었으며, 상관계수도 통계적으로 유의하였다. 셋째, 자기성찰은 세계시민성에 긍정적인 영향을 주었고, 추정치도 통계적으로 유의하였다. 마지막으로, 다양한 세계시민교육 관련 이슈들 중에서 학생들은 환경관련 문제를 가장 중요하고 시급한 교육과제로 생각하는 것으로 나타났다. 결론적으로, 대학에서의 교육경험이 자기성찰을 바탕으로 세계시민성 향상에 긍정적인 영향을 준다는 점을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 세계시민교육이 인재양성을 위한 대학 책무성의 한 부분으로 수행되어야 함을 제안하며, 교육프로그램의 고도화를 위한 교육전략의 모색에 시사점을 주고 있다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of the global citizenship education program on the self-reflection and global citizenship of college students. To accomplish this purpose, a global citizenship education program was conducted for 145 students taking liberal arts courses at the S University in Seoul one semester, and pre and post-tests were conducted as part of the program. Descriptive statistics involving frequency, correlations, t-test, and regression analysis were carried out using the SPSS 25.0 program. The main results of this analysis are as follows. First, both self-reflection and global citizenship showed statistically significant differences in the pre and post analyses. Second, there was a positive correlation between self-reflection and global citizenship, and the corresponding correlation coefficient was statistically significant. Third, self-reflection had a positive effect on global citizenship, and the estimates were also statistically significant. Last, it was found that the college students considered environmental issues as the most important and urgent educational tasks among various global citizenship educational issues. In conclusion, it was confirmed that the educational experience at the University had a positive effect on the improvement of global citizenship based on self-reflection. This study also suggests that global citizenship education has to be offered at the Universities owing to their accountability to nurture human resources. The present study also gives implications for finding an educational strategy for the advancement of educational programs.
